Old Woman JPEG2The beautiful face of the timeless model Lauren Hutton graced a recent cover of AARP magazine which proclaimed “Sixty is the New Thirty”. Initially, I felt relieved; that birthday is looming very close. After all it is my subscription to the magazine. On the other hand, my 90 year old mother-in-law is not always so glowing in her description of the golden years.

Many of the baby boomers are also referred to as the sandwich generation pressed between the demands of our children and those of our elderly parents. Almost elderly ourselves or “seniors”, we are facing health issues, loss of a spouse, declining energy, even the ending of a career and, potentially, increased dependencies on our own children, financial concerns and the possibility of leaving our homes are serious obstacles.  At times like this, a compassionate trained couselor can provide an objective ear.  Many of our clinicians are Medicare providers.
